Fall Play List - 2013

One of life's greatest questions...

What's the point of pinning things on Pinterest if you NEVER do any of them?

(I shake my head at the very thought.)

Today at lunch I mentioned that since losing 71 lbs, I have more energy.  My sweet friend, Heather, said, "You must have more energy.  You've been painting EVERYTHING!"  Truth.

Since I had to give up eating for entertainment and stress relief, working through my pinterest boards has been my addiction distraction.

On another note (I'll tie it in later.  Maybe.)...

I adore SUMMER.

AdOrE iT.

I generally resist the transition to FALL.  No surprise to those who read my Facebook.

No offense to all of you who like Pumpkin Spice (and Pumpkin everything else), and cooler weather and football....

I get it.  I really do.  I go for those things too.

But I mostly love crazy hot sunny days.  I love swimming, sun tan lotion and sunburns.  I like vacations to Florida, boats, jet skis, midnight fishing and playing in the sand...as the ocean waves roll in...all day long.

But it seems as if God has designed that all of life be an exercise in letting go, yes?

So, I trick my emotions.  To make myself feel better about the change of season, I make a FALL PLAY LIST.  You can see last year's here.

I all fairness, I didn't do (or even attempt) everything on last year's list.  But I did successfully conquer 12 of them.

This year, my list is filled with things to make...to paint...things to do that don't involve food... HOWEVER, I do admit to WANTING to bake these...

And just for those who are wondering if I can MAKE sweets without EATING them, the answer is...

YES, I can.

Especially since I rarely make them (I mostly choose to stay away from temptation because I'm no dummy).

I want to eat them...sort of.  But I don't.  Mental toughness.  I don't want to get sick.  I don't want to give up the momentum and confidence I currently have.  I reason out that I ate double the amount of sweets I should have in my first 40 years, so if I eat NONE the next 40, it'll work out even in the end.

Besides, there are plenty of acceptable choices out there with 13g of sugar or less. That M&M, Oreo, Vanilla Brownie thingy up there probably isn't one of them though.

Blah, blah, blah...

So, without further ado...

- This Fall, I NEED to finish the front bathroom.  I started it before my surgery, in MARCH!  I was going to make my own wallpaper and head in this direction...

We hung the bead board.  Love it.  Got the white shower curtain.  Love it.  Bought some neutral colored maps from National Geographic.  LOVE THEM.

Then, "surgery, recovery, end of school year, closing the studio for the summer, graduation" happened.  And in the meantime, I just lost interest.

I painted (and by "I" I mean "Billy") the top of the wall with a paint color I already had and moved on.  Good thing too, because now, I'm thinking of heading in this direction...

Painted cabinets.

Love.

Although, probably not blue.  Because my counter tops are green.  Can you chalk paint formica?  No seriously, can you?

I plan to hang a shelf over the door...and speaking of the door...I want to paint it too...

I'm really into the whole gray (or is that blue?), white thing...but again...green counter tops.  This is the time my professional decorating friends should step up and offer me some free advice....

I'll NEVER stop loving this though!  A MOOD SHOWER.  Yes, dear God, please.

After that (or maybe before -- because my creative mind works in a zig zag)...

It's redoing the front office of our home.

To make a long story short (which you can read the origins of here), Elizabeth moved out, and Victoria moved from the upstairs bedroom to the downstairs bedroom (after we painted it for the third time) leaving my home office space currently open.  BrEaThE.

Ben tried to snag it, but I pulled rank and decided to move my piano back in there...in the event that college daughter needs a place to come home too...and I need a place to teach, from home, in quiet.  Both are very likely.

So...

I'm thinking

I LOVE the white painted table.  And, I believe those walls are the same color I just painted the Creative Music Concepts studio, so I already know I love it (I think...I'm a little bit color blind).

This will mean I have to recover Elizabeth's futon so she has a place to sleep when she comes home.  Or, ask my mother in law to do it.  Which she just finished a big, HARD sewing project for me -- which I grossly under estimated when I called it "easy" sooooooo -  I'm just hoping we're still on speaking terms.

I don't know how to sew.  I know how to hot glue.

Oddly enough, I like this too.  The light walls and gray colored trim.  AND FORTUNATELY for me (she says sarcastically)  my wood floors are so beat up, they'd go right along with the "weathered" look...

On top of that, I have 3 pianos in my garage that we aren't using in the studio currently.  We should sell them.  We need to sell them.  But I'm just DYING to paint one THIS color though...

I have a flat backed one shaped like this...

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS ONE...

I just know I do.

I love this one too...

I should sell them.  I need to put braces on Hosanna's teeth for goodness sake.  Shanna, be reasonable!  Someone tell me to sell them!!!!

Speaking of the Creative Music Concepts studio, it's coming along nicely...

I just need to add these...

I want to use Sunshine of a Cloudy Day.

What song lyrics would you use?

I also need to find a new place to host Kindermusik Classes for ages 18 months - 4 in January.  Wouldn't this be great?

By then, it'll be Halloween.

I want Eli to be this...

Billy really, REALLY doesn't.  So, now I'm at a loss.

I'll TOTALLY be making these...even if I don't eat them...

By then, FALL is in full swing...

I will have run the Color Run and be getting ready to run the Turkey Trot.

Then, THANKSGIVING...

Homemade Apple Butter?  Yes.  Please Dear God, let it be less than 13g of sugar.

Must.  Use.  Burlap.

My next pallet art project.

ATTENTION EXTRA CHRISTIAN PEOPLE:

YES, I KNOW A HOUSE DOESN'T HAVE A SOUL.

I CAN STILL PAINT IT.

IT'S AMERICA.  GET OVER IT.

I like this one too though (just incase you're scared I've lost my salvation)...

But it's still MY house.  I get to pick.

While I should be Christmas shopping, I'm gonna do this....

And this...
